Matariki.

Kia ora my name is Penaia and for this post I will talk about the fun activities and shops there were for school last week on Thursday. In order to celebrate Matariki  we had half a day of school but the whole school had mufti and had to bring money to fundraising and donating to the Auckland hospital, we had donuts stands Churros stands and Cotten candy stands in the middle of the school with karaoke.

Along with Kapa Haka performances in the hall, in one of the classes there was a little shop to buy rings, necklaces and shoes to buy in the store, but the one thing I didn’t like was that a bird did a kaka on my new jersey. Other than that I had a great time and was glad I went to school that day,

There were many activities we could do to play sports on the field, try and hammer in the nail in a long time with 1 strike. I tried the hammer one but sadly failed.

I loved being there that day and wished we could do it again any time soon or at all.

Static images.

last term we learned about static images, Static images are images that do not move. for example, Comics, newspapers,

and posters, ECT. here is an example of a Static Image.

this image is a picture of dora the explorer,

dora explores her world finding new things with her map and teaches kids leasons on the way. but the main villain in Swiper he tries to steal doras map in order to get to the location before Dora the explorer.  Dora’s friends are called Boots, Map, and backpack.

Powers of 10.

Today I will be teaching you how to use the powers of 10

the first question will be

16.848×10

all you need to do is move the Decimal point to the right once since its a ten not a hundred so the answer will equal 168.48

but what if it is 16.848×100?

do the same thing but instead of moving the decimal point once its twice so then the answer will be 1684.4.

Rounding to 2.DP

we have been learning about 2.D.P. and here is an example on how to solve a problem with the 2.DP strategy.

Round the number to the nearest 2.DP

the number for this problem will be 6.275

we will first look at the second digit after the decimal point which is the 7. We circle this digit.

then we look at the third digit after the decimal point which is 5.  We underline this digit.

if the 3rd digit is 5 or more  then we raise the score and add one more to the second digit.

but if the digit is 4 or less let it rest, and keep the second digit the same.

So your answer will be 6.28.

if done correctly we get the answer as 6.28 or 6.280.

Science Fair.

For this years Science fair I have partnered up with Pera my friend, and for our subject for the Science fair we are both trying to give the listeners better ideas and better way to safety secure our passwords, we first found this site called Password monster.com it tells how long for a hacker to get in to your account if your account is secure by it telling you that the password would take years or decades to crack your password and don’t worry the site is also secure and safe for everyone to use. you might also use your future passwords to see if it is even more or less secure.

we all use computer passwords every day, whether to access your email account, social networking sites, or even to do online banking. One of the challenges you may have when picking a password is making it easy for you to remember, but hard for other people to guess. It may not be a good idea, for example, to use your dog’s name, your street address, or any information that’s somehow connected to your username. For instance, if Sue Jones uses the login “SJones” to access her email and lives at 314 Apple Pie Road, the password “pie314” might not be a good choice. Do you see why? Though it might be easy for her to remember, it is very short and contains her street address. A stronger password might be “9J8LZcWAMzjJQUnD”…if she could remember it. That is certainly much longer, it’s not a word, and it does not have any identifiable information. But who can remember that? And if you write it down and misplace the piece of paper, that isn’t really more secure.

Holiday Destination.

if you got to go anywhere on earth for a vacation and it was paid for where would you go?:

in my opinion I would go to Fiji again.

I would go to Fiji because a long time ago I went to Fiji with my parents cousins, auntys and uncles who went there, a long time ago.

I would also go to Fiji not only for the fun but also for child memory’s

what I will do first is to ride a bike because when I was little we use to ride bikes all along the beach and everywhere we went, we were living the dream. there was also 2 seater bikes, I was always at the back because I was too little at the time but it was still the best,

what I would do next is to try find a inflatable water park because while my dad and his mates were drinking I saw a inflatable water park so I begged my parents to go but I couldn’t swim there because I wasn’t strong enough so my dads mate (we will call him bob) put me on his shoulders and slowly made his way to the park. at about half way there Bob already had his head covered in water and I started to panic “we’re nearly there!” I said we once got to the entrance I quickly hopped onto the park and Bob quickly shot up getting air.

the park was really shaky and I could barely stand up but that’s what I can remember

I also remember that there was a huge pool filled with clear water with a lot of space. me and my cousins would spend most of our time in that pool. always swimming and stuff.

there was also this kids room where there was slides and you could dance and play with your friends.

what I would do next is to try one of my Favorite ice cream Sorbet it was my favortive and I would get that Ice cream all the time. I highly recommend that ice cream is pretty underrated if you ask me. especially mango sorbet ice cream

what I would do next is to finally try jet skiing, when I was little my parents wanted to go jet skiing and wanted to come along with them but I was too scared. I still regret it today, so that’s what I will do next for Jet skiing.

so that’s where and what I will spend my vacation on what would you spend yours?

What I did for the Holiday.

Kia ora koutou ko Penaia toku ingoa and this is what I did for the holidays. For the first week of the holidays me and my parents heard about the new Timezone in Whangarei.

since we were free for the whole week we invited my cousin to go to Timezone, but it had to be on the weekend since he has work for the rest of the week, we then waited and waited until it was time to finally go to timezone, so me my Dad and my little brother we quickly went into the car and picked up my cousin and made our way to Timezone once we got there the sign was sparking and shining in the front of the building. when we entered there were guards or cops in the front but we didn’t mind that. In front of us were a lot of kids running around trying to get points for prizes and most of the arcade games taken. but what my cousin had his eyes on the most was the boxing arcade machine,

but like most others there was an adult and some kids there. so we went over to the front and asked to play some of the games, the employees then gave us this card that would let us play most of the games, but only the Red, Blue, and could only play one purple game. to tell what game we could play the scanned would be covers in a specific color to let us know if we have access to the game or not, we first headed to our first arcade game, it was a chained up hammer (so people couldn’t steal it) a score and a flat pad at the bottom. in order to get the highest score you had to hit the hammer onto the pad the hardest you could to see what score you got, the highest score is 30 points.

My little brother went first, we swiped the card and went. My little brother scored 5 points. It then gave us a second swing of the hammer so I went after and I swung the hammer as hard as I could and scored 17 points. out turn was over but we swiped the card again and my cousin went next. he grabbed the hammer and hit the pad as hard as he could and scored 25 points. he wanted to try again to see if he could get 30 and win but every time he tried it just kept getting lower and lower, 23, 20, and 15, he gave up so we tried the punching machine my cousin really enjoyed that game the most there was also a halo game we tried that out and it was cool as,

some of the games were in progress or broken down so that was sad. but my Favorite game was probably the basketball one, because  since I play basketball I had a lot of fun playing that game, a couple games later or card ran out, so we checked our points and we had 300 points, we went to the prizes and got these chocolate sticks and a sour bar,

Overall I really enjoyed the experience, and would recommend this to others  and definitely would go again.
